Research suggests that although adolescents may have a series of sexual partners over a period of time, he/she is likely to remain faithful in each relationship, a concept referred to as serial monogamy.

Adolescents tend to engage in sexual intercourse with a partner, if and when relationship does not work out, adolescents tend not to engage in sexual activity until next serious relationship. Adolescent sex focuses more so on fidelity, honesty, and the mere fact of having strong feelings for their significant other.
